Configuration of a Remote Repository with SFTP

Click the button on the overview page:

 

The Input Fields

Remote server

Enter the IP address or hostname of the SFTP server.

Port

Enter the port on which the SFTP server on the target system is configured. The default for SFTP is 22. If the field is left blank, the default port is used.

Protocol

Select SFTP from the drop-down menu.

Use public/private key authentication

Activate the checkbox if you want to use a login via a key pair instead of password authentication.

Directory on the server

Specify the directory where you want to save the backups, for example /myBackups. The specified directory must exist. If you leave the field blank, the main directory of the SFTP user is used.

Login name

Specify the SFTP user name.

Password

Specify the password of the FTP user.

Note: This field is not displayed if you have enabled authentication using a key pair.

Public key

Click on the button to create a key pair:

Then copy the displayed public key into the file authorized_keys, which is located in the subdirectory .ssh of the SFTP user's home directory.

Note: This field is only displayed if you have enabled public/private key authentication.

Test connection

Click on the button

to check the settings.
